Wedding Cakes in the Illawarra Wedding region
The wedding cake will be one of the first things guests admire when they arrive at the reception venue – it can be classical, contemporary or wildly exotic. Traditionally a wedding cake is a rich fruitcake covered with icing, but there can be a wide variation in the cakes flavour, texture and colour.
Today cakes can be made of almost anything, cake creators are happy to see people’s tastes broadening to encompass other varieties for their wedding. A tower of cream filled profiteroles and caramelised sugar glaze, is a wonderful wedding cake. Alternatively the chocolate ‘mud’ cake has become a big favourite in Australian weddings. A white chocolate mud cake, or a chocolate mud cake with white chocolate ‘icing’ will prove incredibly popular with your guests. Grand Marnier, Cointreau and Tia Maria have also become popular choices including mud cake and profiteroles.
Before you order, make sure you have tasted samples of various products before settling on your favourite for your wedding in the Illawarra. The Illawarra region is situated 1.5 hours south from Sydney and is made up of the cities of Wollongong and Shellharbour and the township of Kiama. Wollongong being the regional center is situated on a narrow coastal plain below the Illawarra Escarpment and lies between the rugged Illawarra coast with beautiful beaches.
